Massage Therapy

Massage TherapyMassage Therapy is the assessment and treatment of the soft tissues & joints of the body by manipulation in order to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain (Massage Therapy Act, 1991). When you come in for a massage therapy appointment your therapist will go over a complete health history, ask questions related to you condition(s), and identify your treatment goals. They may use specific orthopedic assessments to develop a clinical impression of your impairment(s) before developing a treatment plan and providing you with a massage. Home exercises may also be recommended to help assist you in your healing.

Shockwave Therapy

When introduced into the tissue, shock waves and pressure waves have effects on a cellular level that are beneficial for healing. Increased blood flow and formation of new blood vessels create an improved environment for tissue repair. It has further been shown that application of shock waves influences the body’s pain regulating mechanisms resulting in local pain relief.
